REVEAL Survey

November 26th, 2007

revealbookmini.jpgToday, the web-link was closed down for Calvary’s participation in the survey. As of last weekend, we had over 240 surveys completed, which should represent over 20% of those adults who consider Calvary their church home.

Interestingly, today I read a post at tonymorganlive.com about the survey. Specifically, the post is in regards to a response from Willow Creek (reprinted in its entirety) to those on the net that have been knocking them and their model by twisting the results and comments made against them. Just plain disappointing that people don’t get it and that they would take energy away from their ministries to bash another’s.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

November 25th, 2007

josephpanel.jpgThis week we are set to start full dress rehearsals for this musical. It will also be the first time tech comes into play. There are 18 parts, so to speak (all sung), and we happen to have more than 18 wireless mics after renting some from the local community drama organization. That is a lot of mics, but it does make it nice from the standpoint of not needing to switch mics between actors during the production. That can be a big headache that we won’t have for this production.

Today we are putting the final touches on the stage tech and running through a tech rehearsal with the director, Rene Mauck. She has done a fabulous job, along with Lorene Lewison, in producing an all student cast (except for two roles played by adults). They are using kids from late grade school ages on up through high school students for the production.

We are all excited about it around here and cannot wait to pull it all together this week!

Information Overload

November 20th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but there are times where I just get overloaded with too much info. I love learning new things and following blogs and getting things done. In the process, I just stuff my brain with too much information way too quickly.

So, here is a post I came across at another blog (Think Simple. Be Decisive.) that has some good tips at reducing the overload and preventing it from getting you in the future. I so need to put a bunch of this into practice. In fact, my wife just scolded me the other day for answering my cell phone too much and checking emails all the time.

There is a time and place for all that, I just need to set some of those guidelines for myself. You do, too. Go check it out.
